Dunaway is a multi-discipline firm offering engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and construction inspection services to clients throughout Texas. While its previous website met basic needs, the team recognized there was an opportunity to bring another level of depth that would better captivate its diverse audiences, serve as an interactive sales tool for its team, and elevate its brand and position in the market while showcasing its growth. Drawing from the firm’s core value of Technical Excellence, what resulted was a site that offers a unique and enjoyable user experience while bringing the “wow” factor that proves Dunaway is anything but a run-of-the-mill engineering firm.

Starting with Strategic Goals

As a firm expanding its reach in Texas, Dunaway wanted to position itself as a forward-thinking industry leader. Because of Dunaway’s regional presence, knowledge of its numerous service areas was limited among existing clients, so the site needed to heroically showcase all disciplines while serving as a useful sales tool for generating leads. The content and design needed to be simple, clean, and easy to digest while providing a compelling reason to engage on every page.

Mega Menu

An animating mega menu creates streamlined navigation that reveals all menu items in one click.

Homepage Animation

The unique homepage animation visually combines Dunaway’s logo with project photography. Programmed to randomly refresh upon each page load, it keeps the homepage feeling fresh.

Featured Projects

This bold section on the homepage allows for quick previews of Dunaway’s projects and showcases their areas of expertise.

Interactive History Timeline

The About section contains an interactive history timeline that displays Dunaway’s many successes and key milestones.

Robust People Section

People are at the core of the Dunaway Difference. Featuring all 180+ associates was critical. Therefore, a robust search and filter system was implemented, and each biography contains both professional expertise and personal Q&A.

Filtering Project Portfolio

Being able to feature the work that they do through the lens of driving new business led to the multifaceted search in the project section — filtered first by Market Sector and then by Submarket. Large beautiful imagery is also showcased.

SMPS Marketing Communications Award

After launch, Dunaway’s website was recognized with the 2021 SMPS San Antonio Marketing Communications Award. We love it when our clients win!

Design Features

While Dunaway had already established clear brand elements, they were interested in using their website redesign as an opportunity to expand their palette. With their Texas roots in mind, we created bold pairings of distinctive serif and sans serif fonts for clear information hierarchy and messaging. Combined with an expanded ADA-compliant color palette, custom micro animations, and several patterns derived from their logo, this iterative brand revitalization process helped to create a distinctively Dunaway feel throughout the site.

Foregrounding Culture & Life at Dunaway

With a goal of capturing life at Dunaway for prospective hires and future employees, the careers page is designed to contain easily navigable content. An overview video is featured in the hero section and jump links take you to key information such as current opportunities, internships, and benefits. Employee testimonials emphasize the employee experience and the perks of working at Dunaway.
